WXPN's nationally syndicated program, World Cafe, has been helping listeners discover their new favorite musicians for over 20 years. Its host, David Dye, has conducted some 4,500 interviews with emerging artists in that span of time. Most recently, World Cafe brought on UK singer-songwriter Ben Howard, Canadian electro-pop musician Grimes, and UK soul singer Emeli Sande.
This past week, World Cafe welcomed a young, soulful singer to its studios, 24-year old Michael Kiwanuka who hails from London. Michael’s smooth, old-school sound has earned him a solid following from fans and fellow artists alike. He released 3 EPs last year alone, and his first full length release, Home Again, sky-rocketed to No. 4 in the UK album charts after he won first place in BBC’s Sound of 2012 poll. Michael has also toured with Adele and collaborated with The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach.
